Shirts, Tears and Boogie
I'm five. I'm in the boat with my father.
My first time out in the marshes.
The water scares me.
It's thick and deep.
It holds dark secrets.
They're trapped
in the folds of the earth.
My face. I cannot see my face
reflected in the water.
But I can see my eyes
shining in my father's.
