A piano can save your life. The love of music, transmitted by her father, is what allows young Zhanna to survive the harshest years of the Second World War. The girl survives the Holocaust thanks to her great talent at the piano: her tiny fingers can make even the darkest rooms of History resound with joy and magic.

Loosely inspired by Hiding in the Spotlight, by Greg Dawson, Baby Yar is a new dramaturgy written and directed by Firenza Guidi and performed by Lisa Savini.

Baby Yar is the name of a ravine near Kiev (Ukraine), where Nazi troops carried out the massacre of over 100.000 men, women and children, starting in September 1941 when, over two days, almost 34,000 people were killed.

The performance is part of the Actor's Studio project, a new work path started with Baglady, performed by Laura Bencini. Through this project, Firenza Guidi aims to open the Frantoio to new types of performances, giving actors the possibility to face new performative challenges.
The performances of the Actor's Studio seek to bring to the audience the voice, the body and the experience of actors who have been training at the Frantoio's Permanent School, with events that allow them to grow as performers but also offer the audience the possibility to discover new writing and contemporary authors.
